The sticky inner surface catches moths which are drawn to the trap by pheromone attractant. This pheromone mimics the scent released by the female moth to attract the male. it is very specific to the clothes moth and will not attract other species.

Trapping the male moth that the female will not be fertilized and egg-laying will be reduced. If more than a few male moths are caught, additional control measure may be required.
